Excellent for Mac
The verification system for agentic tasks, as a native Mac app. It runs beside the agent you already use, checks its work with independent evidence, and keeps its results on your machine.

What the Mac app does
- Runs Excellent on your Mac in its own window, beside the AI agent you already use. There is no browser tab to keep open and nothing to start from a terminal.
- Starts the local Excellent server and its MCP server for you, so Claude Code, Codex and other MCP-capable agents can reach Excellent while it records each attempt and the evidence behind the result.
- Keeps your work on your machine, in the same ~/.excellent folder the CLI uses.
- Updates itself from Excellent's signed update feed.

Signed, notarized and checkable
The app is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper can check it before the first launch. Updates arrive the same way, from Excellent’s signed update feed.
To check the file yourself, run shasum -a 256 on the downloaded DMG and compare the result with this value before you open it.

- Drag Excellent to your Applications folder.
- Open Excellent from Applications.
The Mac app and the CLI
They are the same Excellent and keep their data in the same place, the ~/.excellent folder. If an Excellent server is already running against that data, the Mac app attaches to it instead of starting a second one, so you can move between the terminal and the app without losing your place.
