Four axes in one variable file per family, from a hairline to a slab, narrow to wide, upright to a stair-step slant

The fourth axis is the gap between the rows. At 0 the strokes are solid; open it and each letter splits into separate horizontal lines.

Weight wght 100 to 800: from a hairline to a slab
Width wdth 75 to 150: narrow to wide
Slant slnt 0 to −16°: a stair step: each row shifts sideways while the strokes stay upright
Scanline SCAN 0 to 30: the gap between the rows, as a share of each row

Built from text

Every letter is a grid of characters in a plain text file.

Six rows make a capital. A script reads the grids and builds the fonts from them: both families, every weight, width and slant, and the static styles. No font editor is involved. Change a row of dots, rebuild, and every style follows.

The EXCELLENT in our logo is set in Sixrow, and Excellent's star is in the font too. Type ★ and you get its true outline, cut by the font's rows, so it slants and opens up with everything else.

Capitals, figures and punctuation, with the accented capitals for every European Union language written in Latin, and dozens more

Sixrow is capitals only. Lowercase letters map to the capitals, so lowercase text sets as capitals. 372 code points in each family.
