Connect an agent

Use the agent and model provider you already chose. Excellent attaches to Claude Code, Cursor and other MCP-capable agents as an MCP server.

Excellent attaches to the agent you already use, as an MCP server. The installer does this for you; run it again yourself at any time:

excellent install-agent-mcps

Expected result: Excellent detects every MCP-capable agent on the machine and writes an excellent server entry into each one's own config file — ~/.claude.json for Claude Code, ~/.cursor/mcp.json for Cursor, and so on. It adds that one key and leaves the rest of the file alone. Restart the agent afterwards, or it will not see the new server.

If an agent is not detected, Excellent says so rather than guessing at a config path.

Undo it with excellent-mcp uninstall-skills, or by deleting the excellent key from that agent's config.
